Work to bring a derelict property back into use in East Renfrewshire is now complete.
The home in Divernia Way, Barrhead was renovated by the council as part of its commitment to deliver more 'affordable' housing for the area.
The building was compulsory purchased by the local authority after lying derelict for almost 10 years due to extensive fire damage.
A range of external and internal work has been carried out to bring the three-bedroom property back to life. Features included replacing the stairs, ceilings, floors windows, central heating and installing a modern kitchen and bathroom. In addition, the roof and roughcast has been repaired and loft insulated, while new external stairs to the property has been installed along with slabbing and fencing in the garden.
Cllr Danny Devlin said: "I am delighted that we have been able to turn this derelict site into a warm and safe house to add to our housing stock. Not only will this be a wonderful home for an East Renfrewshire family, but it has transformed the environment around it and removed an eyesore.
"We are committed to continue to provide affordable housing in the area and will use a number of strategies to achieve this. Plans to build 120 new council homes are underway, we have bought properties from the market to rent and will also use compulsory purchase orders where appropriate.
"This property is a great example of how these orders can be used successfully for the good of the area and its residents."
