A new £7.3 million Adult and Older Peoples Continuing Care Hospital has been built in Inverclyde.
The Orchard View facility will provide adult and older peoples' continuing care mental health accommodation, with a particular focus on delivering a dementia friendly environment.
Containing 42 beds, facilities include;
• 24 continuing care beds for patients with dementia
• 6 continuing care beds for patients with dementia and co-morbidity conditions
• 12 adult continuing care beds
• Social enterprise space including a cafe and hair-dressers
• Treatment rooms
• Multi-purpose social spaces for male and female patients
The project's design and construction was undertaken by Hub West Scotland.
Iain Marley, Hub West Scotland Chief Executive Officer, said: "Orchard view is a project that we are very proud to have delivered for our partners NHSGGC.
"The partnership has delivered four high standard and award winning facilities with a further three in development. It is great to see the communities benefitting from the investments in their areas."
David Loudon, director of Property, Procurement & Facilities Management, NHSGGC, said: "Orchard View will provide patients and staff with a first class, purpose-built environment healthcare facility and I'm delighted building work has now been concluded on schedule."
Cllr Robert Moran said: "This is a significant stage in the development of Orchard View.
"I welcome the completion of the building work as another huge stride forward in continuing to support older people in our community and the important work of delivering a truly dementia friendly Inverclyde.
"Staff, service users and carers were all involved in the design of the building to ensure that Orchard View meets both the needs of people living and working there.
"Wider engagement with the local community was carried out through the arts and environment strategy, which has been designed to ensure the facility will is very much part of the local community."
