Esh Construction has secured an industry accolade for its work on a specialist community village project in Teesside.
The contractor was awarded a gold award at the Considerate Constructors Scheme's (CCS) 2017 National Site Awards for the Eston Community Village scheme, which involved creating 51 new homes for vulnerable adults on Lodge Farm Road, Eston. The awards ceremony took place at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh.
The prize is awarded within the category of sites with project values of between £5 million and £10 million. The Scheme Monitor said he was impressed by the commitment to continuous improvement and the display of what he described as "everything that is really good about our industry".
Paul Redman, Divisional Director of Esh Build, said: "Winning a Gold Award for the Eston Community Village project is fantastic recognition for Esh Construction's hardworking team. Projects like this – which create massive value for the community – are a speciality of ours.
"Through the Eston site we were able to develop skills, create jobs for local people and spark an interest in construction careers for young people – all while delivering an important facility for dementia suffers and people with learning difficulties."
Considerate Constructors Scheme Executive Chairman Isabel Martinson said: "Congratulations to all 2017 National Site Award winners. Winning an award with the Considerate Constructors Scheme is a huge achievement, as only the top-performing sites are eligible for such an accolade."
The awards ceremonies, which attracted over 3,000 guests from construction sites of all different sizes across the UK, were held in Edinburgh, London and Manchester from 20 March to 07 April.
