Eco Insulate Unveils New Generation Of Eco-Friendly Spray Foams

Construction News Image
Eco Insulate has unveiled the latest closed cell foam products developed by BASF, Elastospray LWP.

The new generation of eco-friendly spray foams are free of ingredients that contribute to global warming through the greenhouse effect or depletion of the ozone layer. It comprises of environmentally friendly alternatives to the HFC's conventionally used as blowing agents in spray foam.

The product carries the CE mark and will help contribute towards the elimination of fluorinated gases, helping to reach a target of a two thirds reduction in F-gas emissions across Europe by 2030.

Currently, Elastospray LWP is undergoing assessment for BBA accreditation and will ultimately meet the needs of Architects and Specifiers designing to BREEAM standards.

Bryan Woods, Managing Director of eco Insulate said: "Whilst breathable open cell foam products with their associated green credentials will continue to be part of our product range, their lower thermal performance characteristics make compliance with The Building Standards more difficult. The launch of Elastospray LWP provides a sustainable, air tight, high performance insulation solution which can meet requirements of the Building Standards.

"This highlights the benefits of working with our supplier, BASF as their continuing investment in research and development allows us to supply products which are manufactured here in the UK to meet the ever-changing demands of the construction industry."

Elastospray LWP offers low thermal conductivity, air tightness, water tightness, good mechanical properties and high compressive strength in one application together with exceptionally low GWP and zero ODP.

The foam is spray applied directly onto the surfaces to be treated and its excellent adherence properties eliminate the need for mechanical fixings. Air tightness is readily achieved without the need to tape and seal joints which would typically be associated with quilt or board insulation due to its seamless application.
