Over £11 million has been spent on local homes energy efficiency projects in Perth and Kinross since 2010, it has been revealed.
At a committee meeting on Wednesday, 29 March, Councillors heard how a range of energy efficiency measures have been carried out on homes over the last seven years, including insulation upgrades, new gas connections, triple glazing, and insulated high security doors.
The funding has been secured through the Scottish Government's Universal Home Insulation Scheme (UHIS) and Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland - Area Based Schemes (HEEPS-ABS).
In addition, SSE have contributed over £4.3m in ECO funding to the area since 2013. This has been used to insulate a wide variety of housing types, including hard to treat' solid wall and non-traditionally built houses.
With households now benefitting from real savings on their energy bills, energy efficiency work is set to continue throughout this year.
The approved Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Capital Investment Programme includes £1,664,000 to continue the central heating upgrading programme, £650,000 for extending the triple glazing programme, and a further £1,750,000 for other energy efficiency works. These will be carried out at the council's least energy efficient homes.
A further £1,355,487 has been secured from the HEEPS-ABS programme, while SSE will also continue to provide further ECO funding.
