A new high school in Edinburgh has won two accolades at the Scottish Property Awards.

The James Gillespie's High School, which opened in August 2016, secured both Public Building categories; Architectural Excellence and Development of the Year.

Designed by JM Architects and built by Morrison Construction, the development features three new buildings (teaching block, sports and performance buildings) sitting alongside the A-listed Bruntsfield House at the centre of the campus, which was also refurbished as part of the project.

The project, which received funding through the Scotland's Schools for the Future' programme, was delivered by Hub South East Scotland.

Paul McGirk, Hub South East's Chief Executive, said: "We're delighted that the James Gillespie's Campus was recognised at the Scottish Property Awards. The feedback from staff and pupils on their new facilities has been fantastic and this is testament to the real team effort from the Council, Hub South East and its supply chain in designing and delivering the project. We look forward to continuing this successful partnership on future developments."

Cllr Cammy Day said: "This is a fantastic achievement for all those involved. It has been a unique education construction project in Scotland with new buildings across the nursery, primary and secondary schools and I know pupils, parents and staff are delighted with the facilities. This is the type of high quality learning facilities we want to deliver across the city."
