A £1.7 million park restoration project in West Dunbartonshire has secured two awards from environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.

The Dalmuir Park Restoration Project was awarded an 'It's Your Neighbourhood Recognition Award Certificate', as well as a 'Certificate of Distinction' in recognition of the schemes success.

The restoration, which was completed fours ago, saw a number of capital works carried out at the park.

Features included; the restoration of the existing pathways, hard and soft landscaping areas as well as existing Edwardian fencing, restoring the fountain and floral boat, upgrades to the play area, bandstand area, street lighting and furniture as well as the creation of a clock sculpture and a new all-weather play pitch. A small play picnic area was also built to the rear of the café and Rangers' Office.


The £1.7m project was jointly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and West Dunbartonshire Council.

Cllr Patrick McGlinchey said: "The Dalmuir Park Restoration Project has been a remarkable success from the very start, as anyone who has visited it in recent years will be able to testify. Everyone who has worked with the project, volunteered in any way or even simply enjoyed the park since the restoration can be very proud that Keep Scotland Beautiful and the Royal Horticultural Society have highlighted this success."
