A new innovative technology competition has been launched by the Offshore Renewable (ORE) Catapult.

The research centre is running a competition for SMEs to demonstrate new sensor technology for its 7MW Levenmouth offshore wind demonstration turbine.

Entrants will be asked to propose how new technology can help with monitoring of blades, drivetrains and foundations, essential to understanding the operational environment and further bringing down the cost of offshore wind.


Co-funded by the Scottish Government, the ORE Catapult is developing a digital Clone of the demonstration turbine, fitting sensors to its blades, tower and substructure to monitor its behaviour in real-world conditions.

Companies with sensing technologies that can monitor blades, drivetrains and foundations are invited to apply.
