East Dunbartonshire Council is inviting residents to submit their design proposals for a public realm improvement project in Lenzie.
The Lenzie Street Design Project aims to deliver upgrades on the north side of Lenzie Station.
Three key features of the development include:
• Enhance public realm in the village centre and improve passenger/transfer facilities between bus, rail, bike and on foot
• Make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to travel on foot and by bike to local facilities in the area
• Redesign public spaces so they feel safer and more attractive places to spend time in or travel through
The aim is to trial agreed design proposals in April or May 2017. Developer contributions to the local authority from housebuilding in the local area will be used to meet construction costs in 2017-2018.
As part of the scheme, Sustrans Scotland held a launch event for the project with the counci on 27 September. More than 100 people took part, with a range of comments, ideas and suggestions received.
A second public engagement event is now scheduled to take place at Lenzie Old Parish Church on Wednesday, 30 November.
Cllr Alan Moir said: "We hope as many local residents, businesses and groups as possible can drop in for a chat about comments and suggestions which have been received, as well as potential ways forward.
"We were delighted with attendance and engagement at the launch event, which proved very useful.
"This project will see Lenzie village centre improved, but there are no firm proposals at the moment - it will all be inspired and led by comments and feedback."
Paul Ruffles, Street Design Co-ordinator, Sustrans Scotland, added: "We have been delighted with the high levels of participation so far and would encourage as many people as possible to come along to either our drop-in session or design workshop on Wednesday 30 November.
"There is still plenty of time to tell us what improvements you would like to see in Lenzie and influence the design process."
