The first turbine components have started arriving for a wind farm project in the Highlands.

SSE is currently building the 32-turbine Bhlaraidh wind farm near Invermoriston and the first batch of turbine deliveries are to be completed by the end of October.

During this month the site will receive blades, turbine tower sections and components for the construction of its first seven turbines.


The second delivery stage is expected to begin in early Spring 2017, where the remaining 25 turbines will make their way to the site.

Corinna Scholes, SSE's Community Liaison Manager, said: "The delivery of the first turbine components to site is a significant milestone for Bhlaraidh. The deliveries will be slow moving under police escort who will ensure that they take place safely and with as little disruption to other road users as possible.

"Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and vehicles will be able to pass the delivery vehicles safely at a number of points along the route as guided by the police."
