Clyde Gateway Seeks Views On New Regeneration Proposals

Construction News Image
Local residents, workers and business owners are being asked for their views on new regeneration proposals in Glasgow.

Clyde Gateway will hold two public consultation events later this month to gather opinions on plans to deliver redevelopment schemes in the east end of the city and in Rutherglen.

The agency is seeking funding support through the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund 2016/17, which supports locally developed projects that involve local communities, help to support and create jobs and build sustainable communities.

Four submissions from the organisation are among 43 projects across Scotland that have made it through to Stage Two of the process.

The projects are:

• enabling works for a new industrial development on London Road, close to the Emirates Arena

• a new use for the former Gas Purifier Sheds in Dalmarnock

• remediation and infrastructure works within Phase 2 of the redevelopment of Shawfield

• a combined heat and power, green energy efficiency project for the Dalmarnock area

Jim Clark, Senior Manager for Communications at Clyde Gateway, said: "We have enjoyed some success with past submissions to the Regeneration Capital Grand Fund and are hopeful of doing so again this year with these four very strong bids.

"The process at this particular point in time allows us to build on our initial submission to the panel and when we do so we really want to add in the views and opinions of local people which is why we are making these arrangements for public consultation events towards the end of the month."

The first public consultation will take place at Rutherglen Town Hall on Tuesday, 25 October and the second will occur at Bridgeton Library on Wednesday, 26 October.

Staff from Clyde Gateway will be on hand between 11am and 4pm at each event to talk in detail about the proposals and answer any questions.
