Councillor David McBride said: "Work is now well under way on delivering the best leisure services for our residents.

"This new centre is an important part of our plan to provide modern, fit-for-purpose leisure facilities and I'm delighted that it's now reached this landmark stage in the development.

"Once the new leisure centre is complete, it will offer users first class facilities along with some wonderful views over the River Clyde and countryside."
