Campion Homes has begun building a £2.4 million housing development in Clackmannanshire.
A total of 16 'affordable' flats are being developed for Kingdom Housing Association on the site of a former derelict warehouse in Alloa.
The scheme has been designed by architects Bracewell Stirling along with McGregor McMahon & Associates (Engineers) and Hardies.
As well as being designed to minimise demand for energy use and reduce costs for tenants, whole house ventilation systems will be installed to improve indoor air quality and help create a healthier environment.
The Scottish Government has provided around £1.2 million towards the development, with a further £75,000 allocated by Clackmannanshire Council as a subsidy.
Demolition works on the site are progressing well and construction of the new homes is scheduled to begin this month. The development is programmed to be completed by the end of March 2017.
Cllr Kathleen Martin said: "The project will make a great contribution to help meet a range of housing needs in our area. I am very pleased that working in partnership with Kingdom and the Scottish Government we can offer new rented housing right in the centre of Alloa. The development also compliments all the investment the Council has made recently in regenerating the town centre."
Bill Banks, Chief Executive at Kingdom, added: "This will be Kingdom's first MMR (Mid Market Rent) project in this area. The flats will be very well located for access to town centre amenities, as well as being within easy reach of the train station."
