The plans by Glasgow-based Young and Gault Architects are to replace the current 32-bed facility with a modern 40-bed one at Garson West.
The plans can be viewed at the Council's Customer Services in School Place, Kirkwall and at the Stromness Warehouse Building.
Caroline Sinclair, Chief Officer for Orkney Health and Care, said: "We've undertaken community engagement and consultation around the new St Peters House already, so it's rewarding to now be at the detailed designs stage. We've had good feedback from the Care Inspectorate so we’ll be moving forward with these designs, however we want to thank everyone who has fed into the project so far, given us their suggestions and helped bring such an important project for the community to this point."

Stuart Dallas, Director of Young and Gault Architects, added: "Young and Gault Architects are delighted to have been chosen by Orkney Islands Council as architects for this new 40 bed care facility in Stromness. The home has been designed to take full advantage of this prominent site with panoramic views looking towards Stromness and Hoy, and to appear as a cluster of houses. We've strived to design quality internal and external spaces that reflect the special character of the islands."
