Glasgow's subway system has reopened today, 10 August following a week-long delay to modernisation works.
The projects contractor, Colas Rail, announced last month that it would be unable to complete the scheme by the 01 August deadline "due to a number of issues".
The closure allowed essential renewal works to take place in the ramps and turnouts section of the tunnels where trains enter and exit the system, as well as significant work around the network including completion of the Subway station improvements at Buchanan Street and Govan.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) Chief Executive, Gordon MacLennan, said: "I apologise sincerely to all passengers for the delay in return to service. The Subway is a vital part of the Glasgow transport network and many passengers rely on it daily to get around. We are very grateful for their patience and support while the works have been on-going."
