Ashleigh (Scotland) is to begin work on a £1.9 million school extension project in South Ayrshire.

The contractor will deliver the scheme at Troon Primary School and work is scheduled to begin on Monday, 08 August.

The 45-week project involves demolishing an existing stand-alone dining hall and building a new double-height assembly/gym hall/dining hall. In addition, a single-storey building with housing changing facilities will be developed as well as a new kitchen.


Other features involve improved accessibility including a new lift, internal alterations to connect to the existing building and the relocation/enlargement of the infant toilet accommodation.

The scheme is part of a £110m investment in South Ayrshire schools over the next five-years.

Cllr Margaret Toner said: "This major new addition to Troon Primary School will deliver real benefits to generations of children in the local community.

"Once completed this striking new extension will significantly enhance available facilities and I'm sure people will be impressed with the building once they see it for themselves."
