A former teaching hospital in Glasgow has been sold to social housing provider Sanctuary Group.

The 9.5 acre Victoria Infirmary site was put on the market in October last year.

Sanctuary will now proceed with pre-planning application discussions with Glasgow City Council and the local community. Proposals include retaining a number of heritage features on the site while providing modern homes for buyers.

David Loudon, Director of Facilities and Capital Planning at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: "The former Victoria Infirmary site has been one of our most high profile disposals so far.

"Its successful sale means we have achieved the best value for money for the site, the site being brought back into economic use and the proceeds reinvested in the delivery of front line services."
