Union UCATT has invited all staff made redundant by collapsed contractor Dunne Group to attend a meeting at its office later this week in Glasgow.
The event will be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 26 July and seeks to address the needs/legal position of around 385 Scottish workers who have lost their jobs, whether they are UCATT members or not.
Administrators appointed to Dunne Group said rapid expansion coupled with insufficient capital reserves caused "severe cashflow problems" in the business.
Steve Dillon, UCATT Scotland, Regional Secretary, said: "The collapse of Dunne Group is a major blow to those working in the construction industry in Scotland. This union will now step up to the plate to support our members to the hilt and we will also do whatever we can for those other workers who aren't UCATT members."
In addition, the Scottish Government will hold two drop-in events from 10am – 4pm at Business Gateway, Greendykes Road in Broxburn on 28 July and 02 August. The UCATT meeting will take place at 33 Dalintober Street in Glasgow.
The meetings have been organised by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) on behalf of Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE), with affected workers receiving one on one advice and support.
Mr Dillon added: "We welcome the speed with which the Scottish Government agencies have acted and we will work closely with them to try to minimise the impact of Dunne's closure on its workers. We will explore all avenues to protect and support our members in this terrible time for them."
