Plans Submitted To Build 450 Homes In East Lothian
Plans have been submitted to build 450 new homes in East Lothian.
Developer Socially Conscious Capital is proposing to build the units on land around Longniddry Farm in East Lothian.
Features of the project include associated greenspace and converting existing buildings at the farm to provide space for commercial uses such as a cafe, nursery and offices.
In addition, existing connections under a commuter railway station will be upgraded for pedestrians and cyclists, including improvements its car park and the road junction of the A198 and B6363.
Other improvements include environmental works and provision of pedestrian crossing points through the village.
The site is allocated under the council's draft proposed Local Development Plan for "around 450 homes plus associated employment development, community facilities and infrastructure".
The local authority is required to build 10,050 new homes by 2024.
Managing Director Rock Feilding said: "In addition to the much-needed new housing, we wanted to make sure that there will also be tangible benefits for the existing residents of Longniddry, such as employment opportunities and community facilities, and that these are fully integrated with the existing village.
"With its close proximity to the railway station, this makes our development one of the most sustainable in East Lothian, and was one of the key reasons the site has been included in the Council's Draft Proposed Local Development Plan."
