Engineers Begin Water Main Repairs In North Lanarkshire

Scottish Water engineers are continuing work to repair a burst water main in North Lanarkshire.

The malfunction occurred this morning, 08 March, on the Lenziemill Road in Cumbernauld.

A 21-inch main burst and caused a loss of supply to around 1,500 properties in the North Carbrian area.

Water supplies have now been restored after a backfeed was put in place.

In addition, partial flooding was caused to the Glasgow Queen Street-Falkirk Grahamston and the Dalmuir and Cumbernauld via Springburn-Motherwell railway lines.

A one-lane section of Lenziemill Road has been closed following the incident.

Scottish Water said it expects repair work to be completed later today.
