Nearly £400,000 was invested by the council in new changing facilities and improving existing centre facilities at Stoneyburn Community Centre.
The work was carried out by contractor MMPS.
The centre was originally planned to open last year but a protected species of bat was discovered living within the building.

Depute Council Leader Cathy Muldoon said: "I was delighted to officially open the refurbished centre which will be a fantastic facility for the community of Stoneyburn to use and enjoy for many years to come.
"The development hasn't been without its challenges, especially with the discovery of bats in the building. However, thankfully the obstacles were overcome with co-operation from the local community and we now have a great facility for the local community to use."
