Name Chosen For New £7.5m West Lothian Primary School

A new £7.5 million primary school being built in West Lothian is to be called Southdale, it has been announced.

The name was chosen after a public consultation with school pupils and the wider community.

Ogilvie Construction began building the Southdale Primary School in June 2015.

Being built in two phases, the new school will include 16 classrooms, a school nursery, a gym and a community wing.


In addition, photovoltaic (solar) panels will be installed on the roof with a greatly increased insulation envelope and air tight design to save energy costs.

Landscaping works will develop one grass pitch and one tarmac multi-use games area (MUGA), as well as a full size community use grass pitch.

Councillor Lawrence Fitzpatrick said: "I'm delighted that the new £7.5 million school in Armadale will be called Southdale Primary.

"The name was the popular choice in the town, and reflects the growing area that the new school will serve."
