West Dunbartonshire Council has announced a new £22m leisure centre will contain Scotland's first interactive flume ride.
The four-storey Clydebank Leisure Centre will be built next to West College Scotland and the council's Aurora House offices.
The development is being delivered by hub West Scotland and will open in 2017.
The main contractor for the project is BAM and the architects are Kennedy Fitzgerald.
Features of the centre include a 25-metre swimming pool along with a teaching pool, changing facilities, a café, multi-purpose sports hall, fitness suite and dance studio.
The interactive Aqua Smash Experience flume ride uses the latest technology from Holland and features a touch-point lights game.
It is predicted around 500,000 visitors will visit the new leisure centre in the first year.
Councillor Patrick McGlinchey said: "I am delighted that we are leading the way in the design of our new leisure centre and this addition will quite literally blow other flumes out of the water.
"Having already signed the £15 million deal which will open up the rest of the Queens Quay site for development, these are exciting times for Clydebank.
"The work to transform the former John Brown's shipyard has already made significant strides and in the coming years when the housing is developed it will once again become a bustling hub for the town."
Councillor David McBride added: "With impressive views over the River Clyde this new state-of-the-art facility will offer users a truly unique leisure experience."
