Essential Maintenance Work To Begin On M8

Scotland TranServ has announced essential maintenance work is to begin on the M8 between Junctions 26 (Renfrew) and 27 (Hillington) on 20 July.

The company will carry out the £220,000 resurfacing works on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The work programme will last four nights, with a total closure of the M8 westbound in place each night from 8pm to 6am.

On Monday night eastbound traffic will travel on the hard shoulder only, while on Wednesday night only lane three of the M8 eastbound will be in operation.

Gordon Wilson, Contractor Director, Scotland TranServ said: "This essential maintenance scheme will be carried out to improve the road surface of one of Scotland’s most important arterial routes over the long term.

"Safety is of the utmost priority and to ensure the protection of roadworkers and motorists alike traffic management will be in place each night for the duration of the works."
