High Life Highland has awarded a contract to O'Brien Construction to provide improved facilities at a swimming pool in Caithness.
The Thurso Swimming Pool upgrade project is being jointly funded by the council and sportscotland.
A total investment of £2.7 million will be made in the facility.
Features will include a new gym/fitness suite, a new dance studio, steam room, sauna, new changing village and replacement of the roof.
Existing facilities will be refurbished with full redecoration planned, a new reception area, reconfigured storage, the existing gym will become a strength and conditioning/wellness hub and the pool will be retiled.
The centre will also provide DDA compliant access services and will see improvements behind the scenes along with new staff changing rooms and reworked office accommodation pool side.
High Life Highland Chair, Donald Mclachlan, said: "We are committed to providing the best facilities and service for our customers and this investment will bring first class leisure facilities to the area that Thurso can be proud of."
Chief Executive of sportscotland, Stewart Harris, said: "We are building a world class sporting system for everyone in Scotland and this £300,000 investment into the Thurso Swimming Pool redevelopment is a key part of this.
"By providing access to flexible, inclusive changing facilities and improving the sports provision in the area, it will mean more and better opportunities for people to take part in sport and physical activity."
