Over £28m Invested In Energy Efficiencies

Perth & Kinross Council has invested over £28 million into reducing energy inefficiencies in households since March 2012.

Over 2,400 council houses have received upgraded central heating systems.

Most of the devices include high efficiency gas condensing combination boilers with high output radiators and thermostatic controls.

175 houses that are not connected to the mains gas network have also been fitted with new heating systems, containing technologies such as solar water heating and air-sourced heat pumps.

Over 1,000 residences have been fitted with loft insulation and/or pipe and tank lagging.

134 flat-roofed houses in Letham have benefitted from insulation upgrades as part planned re-roofing works.

Nearly 300 homes have been fitted with triple glazing windows while a further 2,550 properties have undergone detailed insulation checks.

The council has secured over £2 million in funding for 2015- 2016 from HEEP-ABS along with further ECO funding from SSE.

Councillor Dave Doogan said: "The work we have undertaken with our partners has seen a dramatic change in people's ability to heat their homes affordably and efficiently.

"The level of investment reflects our ambition, as both the Council and a landlord, to improve the quality of both social and private housing in our communities."
