Government Prepares For Climate Change

The Scottish Government has released an update on the progress of its climate change adaption measures.

The Scottish Climate Adaptation Programme Annual Progress Report states flood defences, transport planning and specialist training for emergency services are some of the measures being undertaken.

Additional research is also being undertaken to help the Government prepare for future climate change.

Climate Change Minister Aileen McLeod said: "The Scottish Government and our agencies are firmly committed to ensuring we are doing everything possible to help increase the resilience of Scotland’s people, environment and the economy to the impact of a changing climate.

"This first annual progress report of the Scottish Climate Change Adaptation Programme clearly sets out the comprehensive range of measures we currently have in place, for example SEPA’s Floodline service, advice given to transport operators, and our successful annual Ready for Winter campaign."
