Perth & Kinross Council will undertake environmental improvement works on Kinross High Street, beginning on 30th March 2015.
The works will begin at the Station Road junction, before progressing southwards down the High Street, and are expected to be complete by October 2015.
The works are designed to support Kinross's town centre and encourage further private investment in the area. The focal point of the improvements will be the creation of a flexible space on the High Street from 104 to 141 High Street, paved with natural stone. This area of the High Street will be a suitable location for events and markets in the town centre in the future.
A complete upgrade of the existing streetscape from 55 High Street to 173 High Street will use new, high quality materials and street furniture. The road and footways on the High Street will be re-surfaced with a mixture of new asphalt and high quality natural stone paving.
The improvement works in the town centre follow the recent completion of the Kinross Relief Road and the associated business park infrastructure, which is now near completion. In addition they will complement the successful visitor attraction at Loch Leven which now attracts approximately 250,000 visitors per year.
Rainton Construction has been awarded the contract for the improvement works. Rainton Construction is experienced in carrying out this type of work in a busy town centre location and has recently completed similar projects in Edinburgh City Centre.
