East Lothian Council is asking the people of Tranent to attend a community design event exploring regeneration in the town centre.
The council has appointed a specialist design time to run the 'charrette' with the Tranent community, including Kevin Murray Associates, Willie Miller Urban Design, icecream architecture and Peter Brett Associates.
A charrette is a planning and design workshop that takes place over the course of a few days. It will build from consultation work already undertaken and aims to explore issues such as how to regenerate key sites, options for traffic routing through the town centre, access to the town centre and its facilities from other areas of the Tranent.
It will also examine how to improve public spaces and streets and how to use conservation area status and local heritage as unique assets that can improve what the town centre has to offer.
The event will run from 26 - 28 March. The programme is as follows:
Thursday 26 March: Fraser Centre, Tranent
• We are Tranent Now: 09:30 – 12:30
Event launch, site tours and group discussions that look at Tranent now, and begin to identify the opportunities for improvement.
• We are Tranent Future: 13:30 – 17:00

Thursday 26 March: Ross High, Tranent
• We are Tranent Update: 18:30 – 20:30
An opportunity to hear the ideas and opportunities that have emerged, and to take part in group sessions to give your own input.
Friday 27 March: Ross High, Tranent
• Design Studio: 12:00 – 14:30
Open studio for discussion of the emerging proposals.
Saturday 28 March: Ross High, Tranent
