A new all-weather synthetic pitch has been installed at Dalgety Bay Sports and Leisure Centre.
The pitch is suitable for a range of field sports, including football and rugby, and for all levels of ability. It will be made available for community leisure activities.
Doe Sport North Ltd installed the sports surface. The new 'FieldTurf Vertex' pitch reproduces a natural surface, but has the additional benefits of durability and lower maintenance overheads.
The pitch also has the distinct one star rating from the world football governing body FIFA, and accreditation from the International Rugby Board (IRB).
Councillor Mark Hood, member of Fife Council's Executive Committee, said: "This is a well-used facility and these improvements mean that it will help to deliver on the Council's rugby development too. The council has been working with Fife Sports & Leisure Trust, customers, sports clubs and schools to develop a balanced programme for the community."
Andrew Stewart, area leisure manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, added: "The new pitch will be a great asset to Dalgety Bay Leisure centre, continuing with the tradition of Dalgety Bay providing quality synthetic pitch facilities.
"The addition of having a pitch suitable for rugby as well as football is exciting. It is great to be able to cater for additional sports and we welcome bookings from rugby clubs for training, and matches, once the rugby posts are installed, which is estimated to be in April.
"The Trust is committed to making leisure opportunities available to local communities and widen access to affordable facilities – the upgraded pitches are a great boost to the local area and we look forward to welcoming customers to try out the new playing surface."
