Resurfacing works are to be undertaken at Palace Grounds Road in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire.
The £450,000 project will be carried out between Motherwell Road and Muir Street in the area, and will also involve resurfacing at the roundabouts at Asda supermarket and Muir Street/Mote Hill.
The work will take place overnight, between 8pm and 6am, to minimise disruption for the local community.
The project is expected to begin this Sunday (22 February), with the first phase completed by Friday 27 February. In order to allow the work to be carried out, lane closures will be in place from 8pm until 6am each night with just one lane remaining open in each direction. The restrictions will then be removed by 6am each morning.
The second phase will commence on Sunday 2 March and last until Friday 20 March. Restrictions will be in place, similar to those of phase one. Northbound and southbound road closures will also be needed, but not at the same time, it has been said. Diversions will be in place for motorists.
Councillor Chris Thompson, Chair of South Lanarkshire Council's Enterprise Services Committee, said: "We have planned these works in a bid to have the minimum impact on road users, businesses and residents. With only overnight closures, from 8pm until 6am, we expect traffic to flow as normal during the morning, day and early evening.
"Obviously during the nights the works are taking place we expect there to be some disruption and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience. I would ask that people try to avoid the area in question on the nights identified but if they cannot they should leave a little longer for their journey."
