The Earlston Community Development Trust (ECDT) secured £250,000 from the Big Lottery Fund Scotland towards the cost of the project. The total cost of the work is said to be around £310,000. The additional funding is expected to come from a number of other sources, it is understood.
Scottish Borders Council Leader, Councillor David Parker, said: "I am absolutely thrilled that the Big Lottery Fund has announced its support for this project.

"The volunteers who run ECDT have worked enormously hard over the last three years to make the project a reality and it is fantastic that their efforts have secured this funding."
Mags Powell, Chair of ECDT, added: "We are delighted to have secured this funding to take our play park and recreational area forward for the Earlston community.
"Our project will have huge benefits to young people and the wider community in Earlston and we aim to deliver a much needed high quality community facility for all."
Maureen McGinn, Chair of Big Lottery Fund Scotland, commented: "This new play park and recreational area will ensure that young people and the wider community have access to high quality facilities designed to meet local needs."
