Argyll and Bute Council has confirmed a new house for children and young people in need of care is to be constructed.

Some £1m will be invested in a new modern, custom-made house which will be located in Dunoon.

It will cater for children and young people and has been designed following consultation with residents and staff of Dunclutha House.


The single-storey house, will comprise of six bedrooms and will replace the existing care home, which provides short, medium and long-term residential placements for children and young people. A large landscaped garden will also be included in the build.

Councillor Mary-Jean Devon, Argyll and Bute Council's Policy Lead for Children and Young People, said: "The council and our partners are working together to achieve the very best for children, young people and families.

"Our priority is to give children and young people who are at risk the care they need and to help them make the most of life's opportunities.

"This new house will provide a supportive, nurturing home for our young people."
