Scottish Water has said it is to undertake a £150,000 project in the West End of Glasgow, which will improve the waste water network, as well as tackle issues of flooding in the area.

To allow the work to be carried out, a road closure will be enforced on a section of Queen Margaret Drive in the city.

Work is expected to begin on site on 12 January and take around six weeks to complete. It will involve the installation of a connection which would see two waste water mains linked. This will reduce the risk of internal flooding for a number of properties located on Queen Margaret Drive.


Scottish Water has said diversions will be in place for motorists for the duration of the project.

Mark Maclaren, Scottish Water's regional communities team manager, commented: "This important project will enable us to reduce the risk of flooding at these properties in the area and know that these residents will welcome our improvement work.

"We apologise in advance for any disruption and thank those affected for their patience and co-operation. We would stress that any short-term inconvenience will be far out-weighed by the long-term benefits this investment will deliver."
