Affordable Homes Completed In Kincardine

Ten new affordable homes have been completed in Kincardine, Fife.

Kingdom Housing Association delivered the properties.

The two- and three-bedroom homes are for the mid-market rent market and are part of an ongoing redevelopment project in the area, which involved the demolition of thee blocks of high-rise flats.

The association has been involved with the redevelopment project for the last seven years, when the local authority decided to demolish the high-rise flats. The company has worked with Fife Council and the local community to deliver a master plan for the area. Following the demolition, this resulted in 65 new homes being provided to meet the needs of tenants who formerly lived in the flats.

In addition to the above, Kingdom has announced that it is to construct a further six one-bedroom homes which will be for social rent. These properties will be completed in early 2015.

The association is also currently in talks with the local community regarding the final phase of the development which would see 49 additional homes built to meet different tenures, including mid-market rent, private housing for sale and self-build plots.

Bill Banks, Chief Executive, Kingdom Housing Association, is quoted as saying: "The original brief for the redevelopment project included various objectives related to community involvement, mixed tenure provision, quality standards and partnership working and we feel the project is delivering on all of these objectives.

"The latest phase is an example of the success being achieved, where the houses have been completed to the Silver Sustainability Standard and incorporate increased insulation levels and photovoltaic panels as part of the finished specification."
