Luddon Awarded Ethane Pipeline Project

Luddon has announced it has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by INEOS.

The contract is in relation to Grangemouth, and will see the company deliver civil engineering works associated with INEOS' £300m Ethane Supply Project.

When completed, the Ethane Supply Project will allow INEOS to import, store and utilise competitive US shale gas ethane. It is expected to be completed in 2016.

Luddon's contract will involve the company installing 3,000 cubic metres of concrete pipetrack supports and the associated civil works – 1,500 piles – covering a distance of 5km, which will support the installation of the new pipeline.

Robert Hamilton, O&P UK Procurement Manager, INEOS, explained: "Following a rigorous tender process we are delighted to announce that the civil contract for the main pipeline civil works associated with the ethane supply project has been awarded to a local company, Luddon Construction. We anticipate that the contract will provide employment for between 80 and 120 local people over the course of the contract."

Charlie Frize, Managing Director, Luddon Construction, added: "We are extremely pleased to be working with INEOS on what is one of the most important engineering projects currently underway in the UK petrochemicals industry. We have demonstrated that we have the drive and skilled employees to deliver the scope of the civil works to the highest of construction and safety standards."
