Improvements Completed At Paisley Museum

A project to improves access at Paisley Museum and Art Galleries has been completed.

The £40,000 scheme has ensured the Grade A listed building is now fully accessible to wheelchair users, or those with restricted mobility. The project included installing a new chair lift, access corridor and stair adaptation.

Welcoming the news, Councillor James Harte, Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Sport, Leisure and Culture Policy Board, said: "The permanent and temporary exhibitions and the quality of the building itself bring people back again and again to Paisley Museum and Art Galleries.

"Our aim with this access improvement programme was to enable everyone to enjoy the attraction. Renfrewshire's cultural sector is at the centre of Renfrewshire Council's programme to regenerate the local economy and boost employment and investment.

"That programme takes in Renfrewshire's Tourism Strategy and the Paisley Town Centre Heritage Strategy. We recognise the contribution that our heritage can make to our future and we are proud to have improved access for all to such an important part of that heritage."
