New Fife Neighbourhood Approved

Plans to construct a new neighbourhood in Kirkcaldy, Fife, have been approved by the Council.

The £500m project, which will be located at Kingslaw in the town, will see a primary school, shops, community centre, care home, and more than 1,000 homes built on the site of former mining land which has been restored for development. Improvements to the transport infrastructure would also be delivered.

The development, known as Kingdom Park, has been proposed by Murray Estates and will be delivered over the next 20 years.

The first stage of the development will be affordable housing, and this is expected to commence on site next year. A total of 817 properties will be private homes, with 273 affordable homes made available.

Councillor Neil Crooks, Chair of Kirkcaldy Area Committee, is quoted as saying: "This is especially good news for the Gallatown and Boreland coming on the back of the recent approval of plans for the new Kirkcaldy East secondary school.

"The Kingslaw development is another important boost for this area and this application will bring a much needed investment for the construction industry as we expand Kirkcaldy towards the Redhouse roundabout."

Jestyn Davies, from Murray Estates, added: "We are delighted to secure planning at Kingdom Park. This is one of our flagship projects which has already attracted a huge amount of market interest both from housebuilders and retailers.

"We look forward to continuing our strong working relationship with Fife Council and to delivering this important addition to Kirkcaldy."
