Plans to build a new club house at Donald Trump's golf course in Aberdeenshire have been approved.

The granite-clad clubhouse would replace the temporary clubhouse currently located on the Menie site.

On Tuesday, members of the Formartine area committee agreed to approve the ambitious plans, subject to conditions relating to access and waste collection.

The application has now been sent to Aberdeenshire Council's head of planning for a final decision.


The clubhouse – if approved – will be the focus of the golf course, and will be situated close to the driving range, putting green and short game area, it is understood.

Other facilities will include a professional shop, dining room, two lounges, a kitchen, office, locker room and an external terrace.

A spokesperson for Mr Trump said: "We are grateful to the council for their continued support and look forward to starting construction soon with a view to completing the clubhouse next spring.

"Our championship golf course and practice facilities continue to attract glowing international reviews and will soon be complemented by a world class clubhouse."
