New Affordable Housing Completed

The final phase of an affordable housing development has been completed in Kirkliston.

The homes, 162 in total, were delivered by Barratt Homes in partnership with Home Scotland.

It is understood that half of the properties will be made available to those in need and who are on traditional social housing waiting lists. The remaining homes will be available to households with a joint income of less than £36,000 and offered at a mid-market rent of 80% of a typical private rent.

Mansoor Ali, Development Director for Barratt Homes East Scotland, commented: "We are delighted to see the final phase of affordable housing properties completed within the Kirkliston development. Our working relationship with Home Scotland has been excellent and through this we have been able to lay out more plans for other developments across the east of Scotland."

Stuart Dixon, Head of Development for Home Scotland, added: "We're delighted the final phase of these homes has been completed. As a not-for-profit housing provider we're focused on providing high quality homes for those who need them.

"Rental prices in Edinburgh can be high but the people who live here will enjoy modern, energy efficient homes at costs which will never be more than market rent."

The homes at Kirkliston have been partially financed by a £6.48m grant from Edinburgh Council.
