The application has been lodged by The Highland Council's Education Culture and Sport Service.
The new £34m school, as well as the associated community and sporting facilities, will accommodate up to 1,420 pupils in the community. It will also be the largest in the Highlands area. Plans for the Academy include mainstream classrooms, extensive Additional Support Needs accommodation, an assembly hall, a library and Gaelic zone. In addition, a gymnasium/dance studio, community and sports facilities, an outdoor classroom, learning garden and two all-weather football pitches, as well as the redevelopment of the existing grass pitches, are also outlined.

The plans can be viewed online under reference number 13/04414/FUL. They are also on display at Planning and Building Standards Office, Kintail House, Beechwood Business Park, Inverness.
The deadline for comments on the plans is Friday 20 December.
Inverness Royal Academy is expected to open to pupils in August 2016.
