The area covers approximately 30.5 hectares.
Administered by Forestry Commission Scotland, the National Forest Land Scheme (NFLS), allows communities the opportunity to bid to buy or lease national forest land, on the basis that it provides increased public benefits.

The community group has said that employment in the area has historically been based on agriculture, forestry and aquaculture, but added that all the major employers have reduced their numbers. However, they have said purchasing the land will help to retain people within the area by providing increased economic activity and a renewed focus.
A 28-day consultation period will open regarding the scheme and all comments are welcome.
