Hadden Construction has been appointed to build a new extension for Kirkliston Primary School in Edinburgh.

The project, which will be phased out over three years, will consist of eight additional classrooms, a gym, dining hall and enhanced sports facilities.

Phase one of the scheme will involve the construction of a new dining hall, gym, two additional teaching spaces, a grass games pitch and a hard-surface court. These projects are scheduled for completion for August 2015, in time for the commencement of the 2015/16 school year.


Councillor Lindsay Paterson, who represents Kirkliston residents, said: "This is something that has been a long time coming, and it's not a moment too soon.

"With the number of new houses being built, the school roll has been getting higher and higher, and the kids do desperately need extra room and fit-for-purpose facilities."
