Plans for two small housing developments on separate sites in Perth have been unveiled by Perth & Kinross Council.

The projects would be located in the villages of Alyth and Balbeggie respectively and will offer a total of 27 homes available for social rent. Designed by Holmes Miller, the developments will consist of a range of flatted accommodation and houses, including terraces, cottage flats and bungalows. The company has said each property will be finished in a palette of white brick and zinc cladding features, while internally, the space will be optimised for open plan living, with sliding pocket doors to separate the kitchen and living room areas.


They added that the design of the houses include "layered forms in different coloured facing brick with angled recesses to mark out entrances, surrounded in precast hoods to create a sense of arrival.

"The angled forms return around the corners which are exposed by stepping the plan forms of the houses to create individuality and a rich texture to the streetscape.

"Roofs are grey concrete tiles and windows and doors are dark grey composite aluminium and timber."

Last year, Holmes Miller was appointed as one of a number of practices on Perth & Kinross Council's four-year architectural services framework.
