Former Camoran Children's House For Sale

The former Camoran Children's House in Kirkwall is for sale, Orkney Islands Council (OIC) has confirmed.

The property is located in a residential area close to the Easdale Loan and Holm Road junction, within walking distance of many of Kirkwall's amenities. The building itself is on a site of approximately 1,064m sq and is a single-storey dwelling of harled block construction under a pitched tile roof, with a flat roofed extension leading to a further single story pitched-roof section, also of harled block. A garage to the rear of the property is accessible from Easedale Loan.

OIC has said it will invite offers of more than £80,000 for the property.

Since the early 1980s, Camoran was used as a children's care home facility. In April 2013, a fire caused damage to the rear part of the building. The Construction of a new Children's House – located in the Watersfield area of Kirkwall – is set to begin later this year.
