The new Aberdeen Community Health and Care Village has been officially opened.
The Health Village, which is located on Frederick Street, provides a number of diagnostic and treatment services for the local community, as well as advice and opportunities to remain healthy and independent.
Katherine Grainger CBE opened the centre and during a tour of the site, she met with staff and service users. Ms Grainger was given a demonstration of the centre's Technogym equipment, which is designed for older people. She also viewed the healthpoint and carerspoint services where anyone can get practical advice on many health and care issues, such as fitness, diet and help to stop smoking. She went on to meet staff from a number of services including cardiac rehabilitation, dentistry, minor surgery, physiotherapy, podiatry, Police Scotland's rape crisis team and x-ray.
In addition, the Health Village also runs a programme of events to encourage mental and physical well-being, such as free lunchtime concerts and craft making sessions.
Commenting on the new centre, Ms Grainger said: "It's fantastic to see and hear examples at the Health Village of people being supported to remain healthy and live independently. I've always been aware of the importance of good health, but sometimes people just don't have that opportunity.
"Here at the Health Village everyone has access to an impressive range of supportive services in a lovely environment and I am sure these will prove very popular and successful. I wish the team every success."
Heather Kelman, General Manager of Aberdeen City Community Health Partnership, added: "We are delighted that Katherine Grainger, who embodies fitness and success, has opened our Health Village.
"We are very proud of our health and wellbeing services and our bright and friendly setting here in Frederick Street. Services have been brought under one roof from a number of buildings across the city and this has created a productive environment for supporting patients with needs involving several specialist areas."
Aberdeen City Council Leader, Councillor Jenny Laing, commented: "The Community Health and Care Village is an innovative and inspiring facility and a very significant asset in the city centre. It is providing great support for people to stay fit, healthy and active in their own communities and complements the substantial work which the City Council is also doing in this field."
