Aggreko, the temporary power firm, has reported a fall in its pre-tax profits.

In its latest trading statement, the Glasgow-based company said the fall is due to "currency translation".

In the first six months of 2014, Aggreko made £132m a fall of 9% on previous results, but added that is underlying growth remains strong. Underlying revenue increased by 12% to £768m, with the company's underlying profit rising by 6%.


Angus Cockburn, Aggreko's interim chief executive, is quoted as saying: "Aggreko has made an encouraging start to the year and delivered a good performance in the first half.

"We are proud to have been involved in the provision of broadcast and stadium power for both the FIFA World Cup and the Glasgow Commonwealth Games."

The group confirmed that its full-year projections also remain unchanged.

Aggreko's local business operates from 133 service centres in 31 countries. It rents out products such as small generators to large cooling plants, while its international business serves governments to major industrial customers with power plants.
