The first public meetings regarding the Third Don Crossing works are to commence next week, Aberdeen Council has said.
The event will be open to members of the Tillydrone community who wish to know more about the scheme, planned construction works and related mitigation measures. Members of the project team will be in attendance to answer any questions.
The Third Don Crossing will see the construction of a new single carriageway link road between the Parkway/Whitestripes Road junction and the Tillydrone Avenue/St Machar Drive junctions. A new bridge will also be constructed. Balfour Beatty has been appointed to construct the new bridge over the River Don, the new stretch of road linking it to the road network north of the Don, and realigning and upgrading roads to the south of the river.
Work on the project is due to begin later this year, with the new bridge scheduled to be substantially completed and open by late 2015.
Commenting on the meeting, Finance, Policy and Resources Convener, Councillor Willie Young, said: "The most important thing for us is that we work with all of the people who are affected by the works for the Third Don Crossing and we are taking steps to ensure that the communities on either side of the new road and bridge are kept fully informed of the project.
"A site office will be set up on the Tillydrone side which will be open to the public where council officers can keep them up to date with the construction and answer any questions people may have about it."
The meeting will be held at Tillydrone Community Centre on Thursday 24 July from 7pm to 9pm. Details of further public meetings will be released in due course.
