Following this, from Monday 21 July, a series of essential road resurfacing works will commence on the A70 from the Lugar Water Bridge to the C23 Peesweep Brae. The works will last for a week and will involve the removal of the existing surface and the resurfacing of a new road and the necessary road markings. Preparatory works will be carried out between Monday 21 July and Friday 25 July and again temporary traffic signals will be in place. The road will then close on Saturday and Sunday (26-27 July) for final resurfacing works – a signed diversion route will be in place via C23 Peesweep Brae/Rigg Road, B7083 Auchinleck Road before rejoining the A70 at Cumnock and vice versa.
