Giffnock Library in East Renfrewshire has officially reopened following a refurbishment project.

Costing £450,000 the facility has been transformed and includes a children's area, dedicated teen section, and flexible meeting spaces for local groups.

Other improvements include:

• A contemporary layout with stylish design

• A new reading area and improved seating throughout the library

• A new snug area featuring a range of newspapers and magazines


• A new space for children and a dedicated area for teenagers

• A spacious community room

• Two additional meeting rooms and a learning suite

• A heritage room

• Self-service facilities supported by a dedicated information desk

• Plasma screens to help with presentations and provide community information.

Opening the new-look library, Councillor Jim Fletcher said: "I was delighted to be asked to officially open the new Giffnock Library.

"It has always been popular but it's even more so now with its great new look and modern facilities. It was designed to be a real community hub, and it's proving to be just that.

"The feedback from those who use the library has been superb and we hope our locals see it as a place that is truly at the centre of the Giffnock community."
